Qnap [ Universal Media Server ][ 9.8.2.0 PS3 MediaServer Fork

-----

[/opt/Qffmpeg/bin] # /share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer.sh start
UniversalMediaServer is stopped.
ln: failed to create symbolic link '/share/MD0_DATA/homes/admin/UMS': No such file or directory
ln: failed to create symbolic link '/share/MD0_DATA/homes/admin/.config/UMS': No such file or directory
[/opt/Qffmpeg/bin] # /opt/QJDK8/bin/java: error while loading shared libraries: libdl.so.2: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32
[/opt/Qffmpeg/bin] #

-----

Bonjour,
first of all, I have to say that I'm German and doesn't even speak france - very sorry about that. But perhaps you can give me a hint to a probably stupid question...
I found UMS for my QNAP HS-251, Firmware 4.2.2 and tried to install it. So at first I installed QJDK8 (1.8.111 x86) from https://www.forum-nas.fr/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=1595 and Qffmpeg (3.1.3 x86) from here http://www.positiv-it.fr/QNAP/APP/Qffmpeg_3.1.3_x86.qpkg.zip
After a restart of the NAS I installed UMS (6.5.2) from here: http://www.positiv-it.fr/QNAP/APP/UniversalMediaServer_6.5.2_x86.qpkg.zip
After another restart of the NAS I tried to start UMS; another webbrowser tab opened, but I only read Page not found; the address was https://NAS-IP/ums
What's my fault? It would be very kind of you if you could help me...
Thanks in advance!

Hi

do you get something with

http://IP-NAS:9001/console/home

Hi,
thanks for your hint - that works!
Sorry for my late answer - work...
Also if I name as address http://NASIP:9001/ums I get the same window (UMS Logo). By clicking on the logo, I get a subpage (/browse/0) with a menue on the left side and a button for settings; the Information-i shows me same configfiles. So the server seems to be running; my media stored in the NAS is shown correctly and can be played. Butg: If I turn a TV, connected via LAN (same network) there will be UMS not shown as mediaserver as Twonky will be shown. Where is my fault now?
Thaks for your help!

Hello to everyone,

I have UMS 6.5.2 installed on my Qnap TS-439 (FW: 4.2.4), and looking for why my HDD were not spinning down, I realized that UMS was writting every 30 seconds this line in debug.log:

DEBUG 2017-05-04 15:42:02.938 [UPNP-AliveMessageSender] Sending ALIVE...

So, I tried to setup the log level in UMS.conf at INFO or WARN, but these log lines always appear...

Couldn't it be because trace option is set as an argument to launch UMS, as described here: https://github.com/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/wiki/Command-line-arguments ?

Thanks !
Fred

Hi to everyone,

Ok, I found the problem. There was a very small (96 bytes) UMS.conf in the folder /share/homes/admin/.config/UMS.

I overwrote it with the correct one (from the .qpkg/Universal... folder), and everything works.

It seems to be like a bug, isn't it ? Or is it some misconfiguration on my Qnap ?

Thank you.
Fred

Hello, Salut,

I am not native French, but always look at this awesome forum if I need anything for my Qnap HS-251+ nas, so thanks to all contributors!

There is a new release 6.7.3 - can you update?

Thanks so much :!:

On my nas I have a lot of playback problems with videos and I have tried Plex, Emby - which give terrible playback on 4.3.x firmware (only on early 4.2.x it will playback decent, I suspect this has to do with the 64bit processing on the new QTS). DNLA is working fine but give problems with subtitles as it is not supporting the .srt subtitles, this is a problem for me. I have tried Twonky server, but still a problem with subtitles - now thinking of trying UMS and maybe QServiio as alternatives and see how that works.
By the way, also Kodi is giving bad playback on the 4.3.x firmware on this NAS, really it is annoying, can this be the 64 bit problem? I know, this is probably off topic here in this download thread, maybe we can do this in PM?
